Tip #2 to Communicate Effectively with Prospects and Clients

Tip #2 to Communicate Effectively with Prospects and Clients

Today we are talking about the 2nd tip to communicate effectively with clients – which is to Be Professional.

Never sacrifice professionalism when communicating with clients.  During the first few communications, it’s best to keep it on a professional level.  If you cozy up to people too quickly they might take advantage of you by trying to get you to lower your rates or worse, they may think that you’re trying to build an inappropriate relationship.  Play it safe and communicate effectively with clients by always maintaining your professionalism.  You don’t want to waste their time.  When you are respectful of their time and keep to a specific agenda they will appreciate that.  If you don’t have to say Blah, Blah, only say Blah.  Once you get to know your clients on a more intimate level over time, it’s okay to become a bit friendlier with them.

Action Step

Clients are not friends - at least initially - and rarely become “friends”.  Remember, you are a professional being paid to provide results.  Treat your clients as you would like to be treated; be punctual, respectful, and courteous.  Do not expect respect from your clients immediately, they will return it once you have proven yourself.

Tune in tomorrow for the 3rd tip to communicate effectively with clients.
